Biography
Dr. Darien McNeill is a fellowship-trained physiatrist at Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates (CNSA), specializing in interventional pain management and non-operative spine and musculoskeletal care. He treats patients with neck and back pain, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, and other pain conditions using conservative treatments and interventional procedures.
A former student-athlete and Exercise and Sport Science major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. McNeill has always been interested in the way the human body moves and functions. Before starting medical school, he worked with Gerofit, an exercise and health promotion program for older military veterans. That experience, along with his background in athletics, led him to physical medicine and rehabilitation.
“I am passionate about observing real-time improvement in patients’ function with the use of hands-on interventions, while also helping them maintain their personal independence and identity,” Dr. McNeill said.
His goal is to find an approach that works for each patient and helps them continue doing the things that are important to them.
A North Carolina native, Dr. McNeill grew up around Fort Bragg and Fayetteville and knew he wanted to return to his home state. His mentors spoke highly of CNSA, and after meeting the team, he was drawn to the people and environment of the practice.
“I loved the down-to-earth nature and the collegial environment of the group,” he said. “I knew that I wanted to join a practice filled with great people who are passionate about providing excellent care to patients.”
Outside of work, Dr. McNeill enjoys playing basketball, pickleball, and tennis, swimming, and weightlifting. He and his wife met while attending medical school and enjoy playing board games together and adding new ones to their collection!
